San Francisco -- I Wore a Flower in my Hair

During July 2013, I enjoyed some really magical weeks in San Francisco, the most memorable of which were sunny afternoon hours in Dolores Park of the Mission District of San Francisco. At Dolores Park you will spot buskers in one corner, drug dealers in the next, circles of friends and family enjoying brown bag lunches all over, and plenty of police officers abound. Stereotypes exit for a reason, yes? And Dolores Park is why San Francisco is lauded as that colorful town where you should “make sure to wear a flower in your hair” (“San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair” by Scott Mackenzie, 1967)
